Professional Biography

Dr. Alan D. Pierce is a board-certified pathologist with more than four decades of experience in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, laboratory leadership, and diagnostic medicine. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served as medical laboratory director, chief of pathology, consultant, educator, and executive leader for hospital systems, reference laboratories, physician office laboratories, and molecular diagnostic organizations.

Dr. Pierce has directed laboratories at major healthcare institutions throughout Florida and has provided medical and clinical consulting services for organizations specializing in molecular diagnostics, toxicology, clinical chemistry, hematology, and pathology services. His expertise spans laboratory operations, quality systems, regulatory compliance, assay validation, clinical trials, and the implementation of emerging diagnostic technologies.

A Fellow of both the College of American Pathologists and the American Society for Clinical Pathology, Dr. Pierce has held numerous national leadership positions within the pathology profession. He has chaired and served on multiple CAP committees and councils focused on physician education, laboratory practice, management, accreditation, and public affairs. He has also been an inspector for the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program and a national medical spokesperson for the organization.
