Dr. Henry Skelton serves as Medical Director of the Ipsum Diagnostics Georgia Laboratory and brings extensive experience in dermatopathology, anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and laboratory medicine.
Dr. Skelton completed his internship and residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Naval Hospital Portsmouth in Virginia. Following residency, he served as Head of Cytology and Head of Anatomic Pathology at the same institution. He subsequently completed a prestigious fellowship in Dermatopathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology under the mentorship of renowned dermatopathologists Dr. James H. Graham and Dr. Elson Helwig.
After completing his fellowship, Dr. Skelton joined the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology as a consulting dermatopathologist and member of the teaching faculty. He later joined the faculty of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he served as Professor of Pathology and Co-Director of the Dermatopathology Fellowship Program, helping to train the next generation of dermatopathologists.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Skelton has authored or co-authored more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has presented extensively at regional, national, and international medical conferences. For the past 15 years, his professional focus has been dedicated exclusively to full-time dermatopathology diagnosis, with particular expertise in alopecia, inflammatory skin disorders, and cutaneous tumors.
Dr. Skelton is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology and holds subspecialty certification in Dermatopathology through both the American Board of Pathology and the American Board of Dermatology.
